Learning Kindness with Warm-Hearted Walrus and Miss Joni

Compassion and kindness go hand in hand, and, when a child has compassion they are more likely to be kind, do more acts of kindness and know how it feels to be compassionate to others and to share acts of kindness.

Hi, I'm Warm-Hearted Walrus, just one of the nine Characters of Character. I think that KINDNESS is cool!

It’s cool to be kind and Warm-Hearted Walrus makes that message fun, relatable, and powerful for kids.

  • Kindness = real strength. Warm-Hearted Walrus shows kids that being kind takes courage. Anyone can be mean, but it takes confidence to choose kindness and stand up for others.

  • Being kind makes you someone others want to be around. When kids reference Warm-Hearted Walrus the climate is welcoming for everyone, helping friends, and using gentle words, they learn that kindness builds friendships—and bullies usually end up alone.

  • Kind choices create ripple effects. Warm-Hearted Walrus teaches that one kind action can change someone’s whole day. Kids start to see how their words and actions matter.

  • Bullying hurts, kindness heals. In a kid friendly way, Warm-Hearted Walrus helps children understand that bullying causes pain, while kindness creates safety, trust, and happiness.

  • Kindness is a “superpower.” By framing kindness as something cool and heroic, Warm-Hearted Walrus helps children feel proud to be caring, empathetic, and respectful.

  • Kids can be leaders through kindness. Warm-Hearted Walrus shows that you don’t have to be loud or mean to lead, kind leaders make the biggest difference.
