What’s In Your Pocket?
Perseverance may be the most challenging character trait to teach because it cannot be learned in a single lesson. It is developed through repeated experiences, encouragement, and opportunities to overcome obstacles and difficult tasks. By introducing perseverance through our character, Do’er Duck, with stories and hands on activities, children learn that setbacks or failures are temporary and that when we try one more, two more and sometimes three more times we can achieve our goals! This foundation strengthens confidence, resilience, and a lifelong willingness to keep trying, even when life becomes difficult, and we know that it will.
I love this idea because it can be used every day and all year long! Kids learn in different ways and to introduce them to the characters and to engage them in conversations about the trait will without doubt bring some very interesting questions and conversations!
One Day, One Step at a Time and YOU will achieve your goals. Just don’t give up and don’t give in, persevere for the WIN! Be like ME, Do’er Duck! Don’t give up!
Children look up to an adult and it takes a village! Be the role model you wished you had or you want your child to learn from. They do listen to your conversations, so watch your words. They also watch your actions, so make good choices.

Be creative!
Design your own pocket and cut out Do’er Duck! With a glue stick, glue down the outer edges of the pocket onto a folder or notebook. Cut out Do’er Duck and use as a visual reminder for your child to persevere. Reward them a Certificate of Achievement to continue to encourage them to keep trying and to try again.
