Perseverance Pumpkin | Fall Character Building Bulletin Board Idea
Fall is the perfect time to introduce our friend, Perseverance Pumpkin! Or as some might know this Character as, Do’er Duck. Perseverance Pumpkin is a fun way to encourage children to persevere. Inspired by our Perseverance Pumpkin Coloring Book, we designed a Perseverance Pumpkin Patch Bulletin Board for you to download.
What does perseverance mean?
Perseverance can be a big word & sometimes big words can be intimidating. That’s why it’s important to take some time to open a discussion with your students or children about what perseverance actually means.
Perseverance means to continue your effort to complete or achieve something, even though difficulties might get in the way.
Persevering will look different in different situations. You can persevere with a difficult task by taking a break when things get hard, stepping away, and looking at things from a different perspective before you tackle the task again. You can persevere by practicing to get better at your time in running a mile.
Perseverance doesn’t mean something is done instantly. It means that you continue working at something until you get better at it or reach your goal.
Is it ever okay to quit?
Absolutely! We might not use the word quit to describe it, but walking away from something is okay as long as you have given it your all. It might even be a good idea to re-direct the idea of quitting. Instead of walking away from something, can you adjust your goal?
We suggest teaching children to ask for help if they need it rather than walking away. Sometimes it is best for us to walk away - assuming we have exhausted all our options. When something comes to an end it only means there is a new beginning on the horizon.
