October is a fun month for the kids with Halloween! If you celebrate it or not, we have some fun snacks you can do with your kids, introduce them to creative ways of snacking and maybe they'll begin to create their own healthy snacks, too! BOO! On the right, peal a banana, place a raisin in the eye and peal the cutie oranges, add a celery sliver for the stem. These are my suggestions, be creative and use yours! On the right, using raw hot dogs and the canned rolls, slice the dough of the rolls and wrap around the hot dog, add a dollop of mustard for the eyes! The sandwich, using your children's faves, place on toasted bread (or not, your choice) slice cheese to make the teeth, use cumber slices for the eyes and add a sliced olive and a dollop of mayonnaise for the whites of the eyes. These are my suggestions, be creative and use your own! We've all made marshmallow treats with Rice Krispies! Recipe is on the box of cereal, melt butter, add marshmallows, food coloring and cereal, while warm form the ball. (I use wax paper to form for less stickiness) Add a pretzel for the stem and slice a green apple or if you have green frosting use that for the leaves. The lady bugs are on a round cracker, make your favorite spread, (cheese, dill, etc.) place a dollop on the cracker, slice a small cherry tomato in half for the wings, a black olive for the head, a sprig of green of your choice for the antenna! For the black spots maybe cut another black olive into pieces, dip in dip for the glue and place on the tomato. These are my ideas, be creative and use yours! Melt some white chocolate and dip a yummy strawberry into it leaving some drip for the ghost effect, you can use tubed decorations for the face or a chocolate chip works great, too! Make a Princess wand using blueberries and and a star cookie cutter to cut the watermelon. These are my ideas, be creative and use your own! Carve out a small pumpkin or use a plastic or ceramic one if you wanted to. Fill with your favorite veggie dip and surround with your favorite veggies! The one on the right is an actual pumpkin, too, clean it out and add your favorite guacamole recipe with chips! These are long pretzel rods, you can melt white chocolate and green dye to dip them in, cool a bit then make finger lines. I use black olives, the picture used almonds, you use what you'd like, just don't point the finger at me!! Using your favorite taco dip recipe on a platter, then using the sour cream in a tube make a spider web, add a plastic spider for spookiness! This is a spider sandwich! fill the bun with sloppy joe or your choice of filling, slice triangles of a white cheese for the fangs, slice a green olive for the eyes and some curly fries for the legs! This is my suggestion, be creative and use your own! Who doesn't like Mac-n-Cheese? Obviously not this pumpkin!! Again, clean out a pumpkin or use a plastic one which you probably will need to cut a hole in, be careful. Then add your favorite recipe of mac-n-cheese!
