I Am Affirmations For Behavior

Our 'I Am' Series can be used to share with your children, incorporated in your classroom, and even used within your community.  The intention of our 'I Am' Behavior Bear Series is to encourage positive behavior traits.  Let's take a moment to talk about affirmations -- I know, a lot of people will roll their eyes when they read about affirmations, and if you're one of the eye-rolling folks reading this please stay open-minded and keep reading.

The purpose of an affirmation is to re-wire your brain to believe what you're repeating.  If you constantly have negative thoughts, chances are you're leading a negative life.  If you're constantly seeing the silver lining in your situation, no matter what it may be, you're probably a very happy person.

Our 'I Am' affirmations will be focused on our nine character traits.  In this case, Behavior Bear.  The first step in creating a well-behaved environment is to introduce and explain what good behavior actually means.  Once there is an understanding of what is expected of someone in order to be well-behaved, then you start to encourage the positive behavior.

One way to encourage that positive behavior is with our 'I Am' affirmations below.  You can print out the graphics to use around your classroom (Behavior Bear makes a great visual!), share them on your social media pages to encourage others, or show them to your children and begin a conversation about why making the decision to be well-behaved is so important.

Start with our 'I Am' affirmations below.  Introduce them, explain each one, and repeat each one.
If a child isn't comfortable saying it aloud, then allow them to repeat it silently to themselves.  Hopefully, as these are continued to be used their confidence will increase and they will feel more comfortable expressing themselves in a group setting.

As these affirmations are repeated and thus embedded, you should start to notice a positive change.  It might be difficult at first, and a lot of reminding might be necessary, but eventually your child or student should start to repeat these affirmations to themselves when they are in a situation that they need to choose between acting out or showing good behavior.  Hopefully, they truly believe that they are capable of making good decisions and choose to show good behavior!
