Gratitude continuation through the month of November. As I sit at my computer, I her the dryer going, I smell the coffee brewing and I see the sun rising. For these I AM grateful. However, yesterday I received an email from the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt because through a Sponsorship from the Nashville Predators Foundation , Characters of Character was able to donate our Superhero Activity Boxes to them! I am grateful that I get to live my purpose and follow my passion with these Characters of Character as we continue to make a difference, one child at a time. These are some inspirations to keep on doing what we do.
From ED Unit staff- “ I love giving those out! They have been giving kids in the waiting room lots to do while they wait, and the kids and parents appreciate them so much. Happier kids and parents makes my job so much easier, so THANK YOU!”
From Child Life staff-
“We love all the choices of activities contained in each box. Giving our patients choices in an environment where they tend to have so many choices made for them is one of the ways that we strive to normalize the hospital environment for our patients. These boxes have been a huge hit!”
“Just today we have a 6 year old boy who is here and will be admitted for Halloween. He is super bummed about not being able to go trick or treating… we gave him a superhero box and his eyes lit up with excitement! This Is just one story of the many patients that benefit from these boxes. Thank you so much!”
From a (really sweet little boy) patient 😊 - “This is my favorite thing to do!!! I get to take all this box home with me?!”
We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. I can promise you that we do what we do out of passion for our children, to make a difference, to help them make good choices and build a better tomorrow for society. We have been volunteering our time and talent since 2005 and your support helps keep these projects alive!
So, back to being grateful during the month of November, I encourage you to write down one thing every day that you are grateful for. This will refresh your memory, this will give you a positive mindset, this will build healthy habits and remind you that there is so much to be grateful for.
P.S. I sincerely hope that you take time to write down at least one thing that you are grateful for each day this month, and, that you notice the impact it has on your mindset. Stay tuned for future posts as I will share some ways to involve your children in these simple tasks, too!
