I can think of nothing better than to bring happiness to children. I love teaching them, engaging them and sharing the Characters of Character important messages. While our world continues to change in so many ways, teaching our children vital core values remains the same. After all, children are the future. If you've heard the old cliche' "It takes a village" I find this to be true. If you've heard the saying:
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. Benjamin Franklin.
This has always spoken volumes to me, and, today is no different. Personally, I can relate to this quote whole heatedly. The older I get, the line: "Tell me and I forget" couldn't be more true! Teach me and I remember, is how I've learned all my life beginning as a child. But, INVOLVE ME AND I LEARN. This, this is who I am, and how I've learned the best is by involving me, and so to be able to engage these children in the hospital has a special place in my heart, which today, is dancing!
I have spent years in the classroom years as an educator and more as a parent. If you have the opportunity to spend time with a child, become aware as the below is so very true!
Characters of Character has donated our Superhero Activity Boxes to Ann and Robert Lurie's Children's Hospital in Chicago, to Rush in Chicago, to the Huntley Hospital in Huntley, Illinois, to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, to the East Tennessee Children's Hospital and to the East Texas Children's Hospital. We brought Self-Esteem Elephant to Shriner's Children's Hospital in Chicago with donations of our Confidence Building activities to the families and their children with the message of 'I LIKE ME' which are powerful words. To have the opportunity to TELL a child about the Characters, to TEACH a child about the Characters brings great joy and happiness, especially when the are able to internalize and understand the character trait. BUT, when I'm able to INVOLVE a child in the Characters messages brings me the most happiness, and to witness a child discussing the characters, painting the characters, listening to the characters stories and lessons and sometimes meeting the characters, this send me to the moon! To be able to witness the happiness that the Characters bring to our children, families and communities, There. Are. No. Words.
These Superhero Activity Boxes are able to take a child to another place, other than being worried, sad or scared while they are in the hospital. Characters of Character is able to donate these to any location which will accept them. In March I held a Facebook Fundraiser and was able to donate to three Children's Hospitals, which is why the video took place. The hospitals are very appreciative of these donations and if you'd like to donate, you can learn more here. If you'd like to become a Sponsor for these Superhero Activity Boxes, please contact me here.
Just before the Pandemic we discovered that these activities were a welcomed donation, especially a much needed activity for children to be able to do in the hospital. What an empowering lesson to learn or to reinforce, I AM SUPER and to carry this message in their heart for a lifetime of learning. These boxes are now our projects to donate across the globe and to meet as many children, families, hospitals and communities as we possibly can. With funds we are able to donate quarterly to Children's Hospitals. Please, share our project, please consider a donation and if you are able to become a Sponsor, please, do so.
The above is the back of our Superhero Activity Box and we hope you find the value and the need to donate these to Children's Hospitals. What a fun way to learn about the Characters of Character and a welcomed activity to do while spending time in a hospital.
